Schechter Network Summer Learning Program for Rabbinics Teachers
Initiated by the Schechter Day School Network, this learning program for Jewish day school teachers of Rabbinics seeks to enrich both teachers’ content knowledge and their pedagogical skills. An intensive, week-long summer experience features text study at Mechon Hadar and sessions on developing effective classroom approaches to teaching Rabbinic texts facilitated by Jewish Theological Seminary faculty members. During the following year, teachers participate in periodic webinars and share new Rabbinics units they are teaching via a Wiki, which is also open to teachers who did not participate during the summer.
Mechon Hadar Havruta Fellows in Day Schools
The Mechon Hadar Jewish Day School Partnership places selected “Education Fellows” from its Yeshiva in Jewish day schools in the New York metropolitan area. These Fellows facilitate Havruta/small group study in Rabbinics and Tanakh; provide after-school enrichment for students; craft community education events at the schools; and lead professional development for Judaic studies faculty. Students also visit Yeshivat Hadar for a morning of study.
