University of Pennsylvania MA in Jewish Education Fellowships

In the hopes of attracting more Judaic teachers to the field of day school education, AVI CHAI offered fellowships to students pursuing a 14-month Masters in Jewish Education at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education (GSE). Conceived as one track among several in a future program in religious education, the MA in Jewish education would enable students with Jewish textual proficiency to develop both broad and specific pedagogical skills, combined with mentored student teaching in local day schools. The first cohort of four students completed the program in spring 2009. For a variety of reasons, the University of Pennsylvania is reconsidering the structure and design of the program, and so no further cohorts are presently being recruited.
