An ongoing effort to encourage the development and broadcast of new television films and series related to Jewish culture, identity, and reconciliation on the leading television channels in Israel. AVI CHAI has focused particularly on high-end genres such as drama and documentaries, which have received excellent critical reviews and high ratings – an average of 20% or about 500,000 viewers – during prime time. Most recently, AVI CHAI has become a partner in several feature films to be released in theaters across Israel and abroad and followed by television broadcast. AVI CHAI programming is expected to total more than 300 broadcast hours of Jewish content over the next two years.
AVI CHAI’s efforts have solidified the Foundation’s role as a central player in the field of quality Israeli Jewish programs. Our grants enabled the development of numerous outstanding productions, many of which have won prestigious awards worldwide, including: London, corner Ben Yehuda (“London pinat Ben Yehuda”), Nevelot, Exodus, A Touch Away (“Merchak Negia”), The Ten Commandments (“Asseret Hadibrot“), Jerusalem Mix (“Me’orav Yerushalmi“), Parashat HaShavuah, and Jewish Sages (“Anshei Hashem“).
