AVI CHAI continues to fund the NETA Hebrew Language Program, which provides curricular materials, assessment tools as well as teacher professional development and mentoring for effective Hebrew instruction for grades 6-12 in day schools. Under the leadership of Hilla Kobliner, and in partnership with the Hebrew College in Boston, Hebrew language is being taught with NETA (Noar LeTovat HaIvrit) to 12,000 students in 91 North American schools by 350 teachers. 58 NETA coordinators and master teachers have completed rigorous graduate level certificate programs in Hebrew language teaching.

With support from other funders, NETA is also being used in five schools in Australia, five in South Africa, eleven in the FSU, and in the “Na’aleh” program in Israel. NETA has made significant changes in the culture of Hebrew language education in Jewish middle and high schools in North America and beyond.
