AVI CHAI concluded its general grant making on December 31, 2019.

Programs for Jewish Day Schools

Since the beginning of AVI CHAI’s philanthropic activity in the FSU, supporting programs that seek to strengthen and enhance Jewish Day Schools, youth activities, and the structured study of the Hebrew-language has been at the forefront of our efforts. These programs include support toward a wide variety of informal Jewish experiences in 25 Jewish day schools in nine cities across the FSU, the improvement of academic programs in a select number of schools, addressing the problem of weak Hebrew-language instruction by piloting TaL AM (and in the past NETA) efforts to bolster the quality of Jewish programming in overnight summer camps and year-round youth programs – and to increase the number of participating Jewish youth who take part in these activities.
