AVI CHAI concluded its general grant making on December 31, 2019.
Day School Affordability & Sustainability
Most Jewish day schools are systemically under-funded, due primarily to the fact that net tuition (tuition revenue after scholarships and tuition remission) typically does not cover a school’s entire budget. Over the past few years, the single largest driver of this financial pressure seems to be scholarship needs, which have increased in part because of a challenging economy and in part because of rising tuitions. AVI CHAI’s finance strategy centers on a group of initiatives that enhance the viability and affordability of Jewish day schools.
