CASJE (Consortium for Applied Studies in Jewish Education) is an evolving community of researchers, practitioners, and philanthropic leaders dedicated to improving the quality of research that can inform the work of Jewish Education. CASJE is a first-of-its-kind effort to coordinate the interests and work of scholars, practitioners and funders so that decisions about and investments in Jewish education can be based on trustworthy evidence.
CASJE’s mission is to promote the highest-quality applied research and to support the wide use of findings by practitioners and policy makers. To achieve these ends, CASJE holds convenings, develops programs of applied research, engages with the field, expands the pool of interested researchers, supports the development of emerging scholars and secures funding to enable these activities. Through a series of conferences, working groups, small grants, literature reviews and large research studies, CASJE is laying the groundwork for applied research in key areas of the field.
Launched in 2011 with support from the AVI CHAI and Jim Joseph Foundations, CASJE is currently housed at The George Washington University Graduate School of Education and Human Development (GSEHD), where it benefits from interactions with a vibrant research community.
