The Chizuk Fellowship, a program of the JCC Association of North America (JCCA), recruits, trains and places Jewish educators at residential JCC and independent not-for-profit camps to strengthens Jewish life and learning at camp. Chizuk fellows work closely with their camp directors, all of whom previously participated in the JCCA’s Lekhu Lakhem program, which trains JCC Resident Camp Directors . Chizuk Fellows become a knowledgeable resource and partner for the camp’s director and assistant director in executing and integrating meaningful, quality Jewish content and experiences during the summer. Fellows often spend more than one summer in this role, allowing them to build on the traditions they introduce from one summer to the next.
Chizuk educator salaries are paid for by their camps, but the annual training for the Fellows is run by the JCCA and funded by AVI CHAI. Since 2008, 130 Chizuk educators have been placed at camp.
