The annual International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) conference and exposition is the premier educational technology event, with over 20,000 enthusiastic education and technology professionals in attendance. Educators participate in keynote presentations, “bring your own laptop” sessions, poster sessions, the global gallery, demonstrations, and affinity group meetings.
Initially, The AVI CHAI Foundation awarded scholarships for selected Jewish day school administrators to attend the ISTE conference. As the number of Jewish day school participants grew, the Foundation moved from funding scholarships to sponsoring kosher meals throughout the conference. Meals became opportunities for educators to share their experiences about educational technology use in day schools. There are now almost 100 Jewish educators who attend ISTE annually.
