Jblend, a program planned and implemented in 2015-2016 by the Miami Bureau of Jewish Education and the DigitalJLearning Network (DJLN), included teams from five Miami day schools that met monthly to learn about blended/personalized learning and plan for implementation in their schools. The model included site visits to day schools in NY/NJ to see blended learning modalities in action, and ended with four of the schools submitting implementation proposals that were jointly funded by AVI CHAI and local donors for two school years (2016-17 and 2017-18). The schools continue to be coached by DJLN and the staff of the Miami BJE. All four schools also joined BetterLesson to train additional teachers. They will also be participating in training with the Buck Institute for Education, the premier organization for project-based learning.
The program was funded equally by the local community and by The AVI CHAI Foundation The AVI CHAI Foundation also is supporting the launch of JBlend Boston in 2019 in partnership with Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP).
