Jerusalem U is a non-profit media company for young Jews that creates content for those looking to engage with their heritage and history. Using innovative storytelling, Jerusalem U re-frames re-frames how the eternal Jewish story is transmitted to the next generation.
One product, the Jerusalem U Israel Education Media Lab, houses dynamic, film-based Israel education resources. Offering free content, as well as opportunities to purchase feature films, the Israel Educator’s Media Lab is the destination for formal and experiential educators searching for immediate and practical ways to provide students with substantive and sophisticated Israel education. Since October 2018, 3,939 people have accessed the Media Lab.
Jerusalem U also offers JU Israel, a 12 month gap year study program in Israel. It is an exploration of Zionism and Israel through history, culture, politics, current events, and more. Students examine multiple narratives, ask tough questions and engage in real conversations with their teachers and peers. A website with all of the course materials and a weekly podcast, The Teacher’s Lounge, is made available to current students and alumni. Since the start of JU Israel in September in the fall of 2012, 3,707 students have participated in the program.
