The Online Judaic Studies Consortium (OJSC) is based on the successful learning model developed in 1996 by The Virtual High School (VHS Inc.), a non-profit online learning pioneer, Through OJSC, Day Schools collaborate with VHS Inc to design, develop and provide students with online Judaic Studies courses. Schools work collaboratively with VHS and other OJSC schools to create custom courses in topics such as: Tanach, Rabbinic Literature, Jewish History, Israel, Contemporary Jewish Issues, and Jewish Thought.
Consortium members receive comprehensive teacher training in online course facilitation and curriculum design; access to the Brightspace integrated learning platform to ensure ease of access and use for schools and students; online training and access for an on-site OJSC school mentor; and Student Orientation to prepare students to take online Judaic Studies courses as part of their school day. There have been 1446 student enrollments in OJSC and 66 teachers trained to date.
Since 1996 VHS Inc has set the standard for quality online education and is accredited by both Middle States Association Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS), and AdvancED.
