Tomorrow night a few of us from AVI CHAI will be attending Launch Night for PresenTense’s New York City Fellowship. PresenTense is a largely volunteer-run community of entrepreneurs, thinkers and creators from around the world, who are investing their ideas and energy to grow the next generation of Jewish social entrepreneurs. They build community around expressing and sharing new ideas, and enable pioneers to refine their ideas and launch their ideas into successful ventures.
Over 15 days 64 fellows are launching 62 ventures in five cities around the world. Over this past academic year, AVI CHAI has been supporting a cohort of day school fellows in NYC – young educators developing innovative projects that will enrich the day school world. We believe very strongly that a strong day school field must support both stable institutions and start-up entrepreneurs. We are honored to be part of a group of funders including PELIE, Natan, UJA Federation of New York, and Virginia Bayer and Rabbi Robert Hirt, who are also supporting innovation in NYC through PresenTense.
If you can, attend an upcoming Launch Night over the next two weeks. The fellows are interesting people with exciting ideas: The other Launch Nights will take place in:
Click here to RSVP to a local launch night, and one of PresenTense’s coordinators will be in touch with you. If you can’t make it to a launch night in person, join online for a live stream of the events, or donate your creative capital to help support Fellows’ ventures. (You can still find out about the Philadelphia projects even though their launch night has passed.
You can also view their Global Launch Book, cataloging what is happening across PresenTense Global during the month of May, 2011.
Exciting stuff! I hope to write a follow-up post after the event. Let us know if you will be there!
