A new Jewish camping initiative was announced today in eJewishPhilanthropy: BunkConnect. The program aims to make summer camp a more financially feasible decision through matching income-eligible families with high-quality camps at a more affordable price. An initiative of the Foundation for Jewish Camp (FJC), BunkConnect is unique in its collaborative funding model in partnership with The Center for Entrepreneurial Jewish Philanthropy (CEJP), with participation from The AVI CHAI Foundation, the Michael and Andrea Leven Family Foundation, The Leader Family Foundation and The Jack and Goldie Wolfe Miller Fund.
The Jewish community is facing rising costs of Jewish education even as studies show that Jewish camp and day school lay the foundation for Jewish engagement. BunkConnect hopes to leverage forward-thinking approaches from the business and philanthropic worlds to begin to address these important issues.
