If you are a school leader, you can apply to attend the AVI CHAI Harvard experience launching at The Principals’ Center at the Harvard Graduate School of Education this summer. But – apply today! The deadline for applications is this Friday, March 20th.

Why should you apply to this program?

You (or someone you know) should apply if you are a day school administrator serious about advancing your school through a significant change project that will enhance your school’s Jewish mission.  The program is designed to stimulate and begin implementing a high impact project in your school. Selected leaders will attend one of two Harvard summer institutes: Advancing the Art of Leadership (AOL), for leaders with 1-5 years of experience, or Leadership: An Evolving Vision (LEV), for leaders with 3+ years of experience.  AVI CHAI-sponsored participants will also benefit from an additional structured program, both at Harvard and throughout the 2015-16 school year, designed to apply the learning to Jewish day schools.

How can participating in this program impact your school?

Mark Shpall, Dean of Students at New Community Jewish High School (NCJHS) in West Hills, California, explained the value he gained from his experience in the 2014 LEV program as follows: “Needless to say, the Harvard Graduate School of Education puts on a fantastic, high level program that is worth every minute you invest in it. But there is significant value added to the program for the AVI CHAI cohort who gets the advantage of working with a facilitator like Jonathan Cannon and is given the motivation and help in creating an actionable plan for their school. My Jewish leadership skills and the impact I have been able to have on the Jewish soul of my school was deeply impacted by my participation in this program.”

“As I was preparing to take on a new and expanded role of Jewish Studies director in our community day school, the Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy in Overland, KS, I was seeking a program that would prepare me,” said Rabbi Dani Rockoff, who participated in the AOL program in the summer of 2014. “Attending the AVI CHAI-sponsored program that began at Harvard was simply incredible. It increased my leadership capacity immensely and provided a strong network of leaders, friends and advisors at my side…The Jewish literacy project I brought to our school, a Chidon Hatanach (National Bible Competition) Club, has been transformational and was largely shaped by my AOL experience.”
