Recently, AVI CHAI has released two research reports on day school online/blended learning, as well as a case studies series on how day schools enact their Jewish missions. So far, we have received positive feedback as to the value of this research and thought leadership to the day school and wider Jewish education fields. We plan to host three upcoming webinars – with the goals of further increasing the reports’ dissemination; generating conversation around the findings; and encouraging schools and Jewish educational institutions to process the potential implications for how these findings could inform their thinking and practice.
Here is some more information about these three webinars. We hope you will encourage your school’s leadership team, lay leaders, and others in your community who care about day schools to attend and explore these topics together.
Case Studies Series
These webinars explore topics raised in “How Schools Enact Their Jewish Missions: 20 Case Studies of Jewish Day Schools,” produced by a team of researchers directed by Dr. Jack Wertheimer. All case studies can be accessed and downloaded here.

The AVI CHAI Foundation was pleased to recently release two “State of the Field” research reports on Jewish day school online/blended learning. “Online/Blended Learning State of the Field Survey Summary Findings Report” by Anne Deeter is a quantitative report providing a field-wide update on new developments in the use of online/blended learning in Jewish day schools since the 2012 “Online Learning: State of the Field Survey.” The second, “Moving Forward: An Interim Report of Select AVI CHAI Blended Learning Initiatives in Jewish Day Schools” by Dr. Leslie Santee Siskin, is a qualitative analysis charting the progress of day schools involved in some of AVI CHAI’s funded initiatives in this area.
Both reports indicate rapid growth in the field and continued interest and acceleration. In 2013-14, as much as 79 percent of day schools report some type of online or blended learning, compared to 23 percent in 2011-12.
Join AVI CHAI’s Senior Program Officer Rachel Mohl Abrahams for this webinar discussing the reports’ findings and the Foundation’s thoughts as to next steps for this growing area in Jewish day school education.
All webinars will be recorded and subsequently available at www.avichai.org.
