iTaLAM is a Hebrew language and Jewish heritage curriculum that teaches Jewish daily life, holidays, and Israel, while students also work on Hebrew competency. The program engages students in all modalities of learning by activating multiple intelligences.
Following more than 20 years of extraordinary success across day schools representing all religious streams, the earlier print-only curriculum was transformed over five years into a unique, digital interactive blended-learning program called iTaLAM that combines the benefits of both print and digital learning models. iTaLAM encourages student participation and accelerates learning through focused, “flipped” instruction (delivering instructional content, often online, outside of the classroom and moving activities, including those that may have traditionally been considered homework, into the classroom), and adapts automatically to each student’s level and interests. Students work in groups and use social networking to support their learning. Additionally, iTalAM includes a Learning Management System, a sophisticated set of management tools for teachers and administrators that monitor and can report students’ progress in both their work in class and home.
The curriculum is used annually by almost 30,000 1st-5th grade students in 350 Jewish day schools around the world, and has been received with high levels of satisfaction and enthusiasm by students, teachers and administrators. iTaLAM was produced through a partnership with Compedia, a world leader in software development, applying advanced technologies, platforms and systems used in corporate training and education.
